Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, & A Happy New Year!

Okay, so it has been a REALLY long time since I have blogged, but really that is because there has been a lot going on. I am so excited for this year! There are many things happening, and changes going on, not only with Cook Photography, but in my little family as well.

Throughout the rest of January, and through March, I will be posting lots of the fun pictures I took over the Holiday Season. A lot went on the season, and so many families really brought out the best in what I try to accomplish as a photographer.

Every year I try to go to Imaging USA in January. It is an annual event which offers classes, presentations, print competition exhibition, and a very exciting trade show. I love this event because it recharges me every year, and gives me new focus to accomplish my goals in 2012. One of my main goals for this year is for me to not only continue giving quality portraits, but to maintain the standards of professional photography. One of the things that will help me commit to this goal is going through the process to become a Certified Professional Photographer. What this means is I have to study really hard to take a test, and submit several images that show I understand the elements of photography. Becoming a CPP will put me in the path towards getting my Masters of Photography award, which I do hope to accomplish in the future.

The reason I am letting everyone know what my photographic goals are is because once you write it down, it becomes more permanent. Now it is something I have to do, instead of backing out and convincing myself of other things I could be doing.

Some of the other changes taking place in my life is that our family is moving to St. George, UT. I am excited for the change, but this does mean an entire business reconstruction. In the next few months my business will be in a different location, but if anything is ever needed, please don't hesitate to call, we will still be traveling to Salt Lake often. If you have had portraits taken in or before 2008, and you would like to purchase a copy of your negatives, please let me know. One of the changes is going to be that many of those pictures will not be moving with us, and I don't want anyone to not have those special family memories.

Also, facebook is something that I am not on often, but I do see the interest and need to stay connected with people. I recently deleted the Cook Photography page, so all business things will be posted in my personal account. If you would like to keep track of Cook Photography on Facebook, make sure to friend me, and I will link all updates there. This year I am implementing a new policy for facebook. Any portrait picture bought from your session comes with a digital facebook file. This way you can share some of your favorite portraits with all your friends and family! If anyone has any questions regarding some of the changes, just drop me an email.

October is always a great time for family pictures. For myself, it really is my favorite photographic season. I feel like the colors and tones always go with the things in my home. After I looked at this family's portrait, I thought "this is where I want my family pictures taken," it just has so many great elements in it. If anyone knows what their favorite season is make sure to call and book your session now, because nothing will mean more to you than having your portraits taken at a time when you feel most like yourself.

Thanks P family! I am so glad we were able to get together for this session!

So, I am thinking of stopping the Movie Quotes, vote to keep them or do something else!
