St. George+Skim Boarding+a good fall=Torn ACL

When my family and I were in St George over Labor Day we went Skim Boarding in the Virgin River. It was a blast to learn a new sport, and the last picture I took of the day was my sister falling and ripping her ACL. Other than that, we had a great time. N was awesome to watch, and Emilee and Mac had a blast. Emilee had quite an adventurous spirit, and really picked it up (with a little help, Thanks N!)
It was a beautiful weekend. I highly recommend seeing AIDA down at Tuacahn. It was a fabulous performance!

Smokin' Hot!

I am so glad I had the opportunity to take this couple's picture. I think I was 16 years old when this couple got engaged, and I remember myself and some of my other 16yr old cousins hammered poor M with questions after question about their relationship, and dates, and all those silly things we were just eating up. I think always being such a hopeless romantic is why I love doing weddings so much. Seeing people's stories start out, and then watching their families grow is one of the best things about my job. G and M, I have always thought you were both wonderful, and it was so great to have you in town for a moment to chat! I hope everything is going wonderfully in Wisconsin!

I still love being the Second Photographer

Beautiful Day, Beautiful Couple!
Thank you again Als! Again I can not take credit for setting up any of the shots, but I do love capturing those candid moments!

FAMILY

This is such a great family, and I am so lucky to have the privilege to take their picture. When I look at this family I think of that saying "Brothers by Chance, Friends by Choice," and I feel that way with every person in these pictures. Not only are they my cousins, but they are my friends as well. Thank you so much C family for having me be apart of your day, I know it was emotional, and every one's expressions were perfect. G and C, your portrait is timeless, and C, you are ageless! You are both so beautiful. Thank you again for such a wonderful evening!

Blue Chair, Blue Eyes, Can you Guess my Favorite Color?

I love Blue. That would explain why everything is blue on my website. I think there is something about blue that looks clean and classic, and goes with most colors. This little D looks awesome in his blue, and his little expressions were enough to melt any mother's heart. He was a pleasure to photograph, and I love seeing all the stages babies go through. I think photographing any child just before they start crawling in the best time. They seem intrigued by the camera, but once they are crawling, they have figured out that they can attack the camera! Thank you so much C. It was so nice to meet you, and your adorable little D! I had a great time, and I hope you enjoyed the rest of your vacation.

I love doing weddings, especially when I am second photographer!

Recently I had the opportunity to do a couple of weddings with English Photography, and I had the best time. I was not the photographer, so I cannot take any credit for any of the posing or backgrounds, (English Photography is the mastermind behind all those www.englishphoto.com ) I am just lucky enough to take pictures when the couple doesn't know I am. (or sometimes they do which makes for great expressions as well!) Thank you Als, it meant everything to me to have this opportunity. This was a beautiful day with beautiful people, and I am thrilled I got to be apart of it. Look for the second wedding in the next couple of posts!

I love that even with a crowd of family and friends around them, they still only have eyes for each other!

Albian Basin

Back in March E contacted me, and scheduled to have her family pictures done for the summer. When she wanted the last week in July, I knew we would have to go to Albian Basin. It was a beautiful night (except for the thirty mosquito bites I went home with) and nothing felt better than being up in the mountains, photographing this beautiful family. I will always have a special place in my heart for this family because they were my first clients ever. I still remember the family sitting we did at Red Butte over 5 years ago. What an exciting ride it is to look back and see how much I have learned. Thank you M family for coming with me on that journey. I hope the ride continues for many more years to come! Thank you to all my clients who have supported me through the years. It means everything to me!

Family Reunions

I love being able to take pictures in a new spot, and the summer months make it even more enjoyable to be outside. I love doing studio work, and trying new things, but I have loved being outside and taking pictures of people in their element. One of the things I love about family sessions is so often when they get together, I get to be apart of their memories. Thank you so much C family. It was so great to see you all again, and see how much your kids have grown! P, you win the award for best trooper. Thanks for bringing out your new little bundle. She is beautiful. There were so many great family groupings from this sitting I had a hard time choosing, and not enough time to retouch them all. Also, I have never been this far behind. For everyone waiting for your sneak peeks, just hang on a little longer, I am working as fast as I can!

Happy 24th of July!

In Utah, we celebrate the 24th of July as "Utah's birthday" or more so about when the pioneer's came into Utah. I did have some of my ancestors travel with the pioneers, but many others came to Utah in different ways. I have thought a lot this week about them, and the struggles they had in rooting their lives here in Utah. I love where we live. I love waking up and be surrounded by mountains. I love being able to drive 20 minutes for a hike in the fall leaves. I love taking pictures here in the spring. I love it here, and I am so grateful for my heritage here.
On the 4th of July my mom had these wonderful outfits made for the kids. I don't think they could be any cuter! M, thank you again for your works of art. They are so wonderful, and it was so appropriate to be thinking about peace on the 4th of July. Really, if anyone wants the best tie dye ever go to www.englishphoto.typepad.com/peacefulones
I hope everyone has a wonderful July. I hope we all can keeping praying for a generation of peace!

Rodeo

I can't believe how quickly the summer has gone! I was hoping I would have had more time to keep everyone posted on all the great sessions I have had, but none the less time seems to be slipping through my fingers. For everyone who has wanted a sneak peak at their stuff, just be patient with me, and I will try to get caught up as soon as I can! Quite a few weeks ago my family and I went to the Riverton Rodeo. It was fun to take some action shots. My favorite ones ended up being the hyde racing, but that is probably because I was the closest to the action on those. I kept thinking about my High School Days when I could listen to nothing but Garth Brooks songs, "It's boots and chaps, it's cowboy hats, it's spurs and latigo, it's the ropes and the reins, and the joy and the pain, and they call the thing rodeo"
